well i start with the lightest part, do a bunch of really delicate thin strands and just fill it in. once you've done a bunch of skinny strands you can do thicker ones to fill in behind the thin strands and work your way through

nope its really just time that makes my stuff look good i have a lot of patience with my art. the best tip i can give is do little pieces at a time, don't half ass it when you start getting tired. just take a break and do another part of the picture.
